KILAGUNI LODGE

The hustle and bustle of the city can make you drained and craving for a get away. Kilaguni Lodge is a resort which has gained popularity among locals and travel enthusiast. It was the first lodge to be built in Kenyan National Park which is Tsavo West in the year 1960.

Kilaguni Lodge is located at Tsavo West National Park approximately 232KM from Nairobi. It is a 20 minutes drive from the maingate at Mtito Andei along Nairobi -Mombasa highway. It perfectly balances the touch of nature and modern hospitality. It has an airstrip which makes it easy for an option for a weekend getaway. The roads are well maintained.

The lodge provides several accommodation options where the guests can choose from over the many self contained rooms and suites. The rooms are simple, clean and furnished. It also offers a boardroom which can update 36 guests and have a wide view of the park.  The lodge has own waterhole where animals come to drink water in the evening or early in the morning.

While at Kilaguni Lodge one can tour several places within the park like Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, climb the famous Kyaimu hill,  a visit to the Mzima Springs fed by a million litres of water gushing from the lava flows of the Chyulu hills which provide an underwater hippo viewing and crocodile viewing chamber. One can also tour the famous lava flows and the caves of the famous Shetanic flow and a nature walk with the local residents to the peak of the Five Sisters volcanic hills.

Tsavo West National Park is known for being rich in wildlife like Lions, elephants, bufallo, hippos, Zebras, Rhinos, gazelles and many species of birds.  The park is also situated for visits to other parks like Tsavo East,  Chyulu hills and the famous Amboseli National Park.

Updating my travel experience in my next post, don't miss.
